India carmaker Bajaj Auto recently launched the world‍‍`s first CNG-run motorcycle, the Bajaj Freedom 125, reports India Today. The company claims that this motorcycle has almost 50% less operating cost than a similar petrol-only model. The Bajaj Freedom 125 has dual-fuel capability with a tank each for CNG and petrol.

The Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike gets a 124.58cc engine, which develops 9.5PS of maximum power and 9.7Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Bajaj claims a mileage of 102km/kg in the CNG mode and 65km/l in the petrol mode. So the complete range with both CNG and petrol tanks full is 334km.

The Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike starts in the CNG mode, unlike CNG-powered cars that start in petrol mode and later on switch to the CNG mode. In case the CNG tank empties, the riders can switch to petrol mode.

Based on a trellis frame, the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG uses a telescopic front suspension and a link-monoshock system at the rear. The front has a 17-inch alloy, while the rear has a 16-inch alloy, both shod with tubeless tyres. There is a 240mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear.

The Bajaj Freedom 125 variants are NG04 Drum, NG04 Drum LED and NG04 Disc LED. Below is the variant-wise Bajaj Freedom 125 price (ex-showroom).

The Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike has been made available in Maharashtra and Gujarat at present. It will be launched in other parts of the country in a phased manner, starting next quarter.
